Anglo American exhibit attracts big crowds at Callide Valley Show

28 May, 2015

Visitors of all ages had the chance to get behind the controls of dozer and grader simulators at the Anglo American exhibit at the Callide Valley Show on 15 and 16 June.

Anglo American partnered with Hastings Deering, AECOM and Civil Australia to coordinate the display, which was located in the Lions Pavilion.

The Hastings Deering mine simulators were a key feature of the Anglo American stand, which also included a range of free activities including face painting, colouring-in competitions, giveaways and lucky door prizes.

Anglo American Stakeholder Engagement Officer Phil Casey said the exhibit was an excellent success with more than 1800 people visiting the stand throughout the show.

“We are very pleased to have been able to work with AECOM, Hastings Deering and Civil Australia to deliver an informative and entertaining display this year,” Mr Casey said.

“The response and feedback from visitors was excellent and it was great to see such a diverse audience visiting the stand.

“The simulators are used by trainees to test their abilities in a simulated environment before they go onsite, so it was a great way to give people a real taste of what it would be like to work with this type of machinery on a real mine site.”

Mr Casey said the stand also provided a great opportunity for Anglo American to provide information about the work Callide mine is doing in the local community and an update on the new Boundary Hill South project.

Anglo American’s environment team was also on hand to talk to the community about ongoing environmental and rehabilitation projects currently underway at Callide mine.
