30 July, 2015

Anglo American is delighted to host star Brisbane Broncos player Josh McGuire and members of the Broncos Game Development team in Middlemount today to kick off an action-packed two day visit to the region as part of the Anglo American Broncos Regional Tour program.

Josh and the team hosted a series of coaching clinics and motivational sessions with primary and secondary students from Middlemount Central School and members of the Middlemount Panthers Rugby League club.

As part of the visit the Broncos attended the much-anticipated Middlemount Indigenous Vs All Stars football match held annually in celebration of NAIDOC week to recognise local indigenous culture, history and beliefs.

Anglo American Communications Manager Vanessa Davies said the tour continues Anglo American’s proud tradition of providing regional Queenslanders with the chance to meet some of the biggest names in rugby league.

“Anglo American is delighted to join with the Brisbane Broncos and provide the Middlemount community with the opportunity to meet and learn from members of the much respected Brisbane Broncos,” Mrs Davies said.

“We value our relationships with schools and sporting clubs in our mining communities, where our mine employees and their families have made their homes for generations.

“This is the fifth year of Anglo American’s regional partnership with the Brisbane Broncos and we are excited to continue to give local kids and Broncos fans of all ages the chance to get up close and personal with their rugby league heroes.”

Brisbane Broncos Game Development Manager Paul Dyer said the Broncos were delighted to maintain their partnership with Anglo American which enabled them to visit the club’s many loyal fans.

“Our partnership with Anglo American is very important to the Brisbane Broncos as it provides us with the opportunity to travel to regional towns, meet our many loyal fans and share with them some of our experiences and coaching skills,” Paul said.

Josh and the team will be in Clermont on Friday to attend the Anglo American Brisbane Broncos Interschool sports finals.
