Anglo American’s Dawson mine has celebrated the outstanding achievements and contribution made by its apprentices at the Dawson Apprentice Awards held on 9 June in conjunction with the Gladstone Area Group Apprentice Limited (GAGAL).
Trophies were presented to the winners of the 2013 and 2014 Dawson Apprentice Awards, who were selected from a pool of nominations submitted by supervisors, superintendents and management.
The title of 2014 Electrical Apprentice of the Year went to Pat Bowden, who also took out the award for Most Consistent Electrical Apprentice in 2013.
The 2014 Mechanical Apprentice of the Year went to Robert Brosnan, 2014 Most Consistent Electrical Apprentice was awarded to Cameron Wheeler and 2014 Most Consistent Mechanical Apprentice went to Tara Pavey.
The 2013 Electrical Apprentice of the Year went to Josey Stevens, 2013 Most Consistent Mechanical Apprentice was shared by Robert Brosnan and Matt Keene and 2013 Mechanical Apprentice of the Year went to Luke Wilkie.
The awards were presented by Dawson General Manager Dave Palmer and Maintenance and Engineering Manager Adam Routledge.
Mr Palmer said the awards acknowledged the outstanding efforts and hard work of the apprenticeship program participants.
“Congratulations to the 2013 and 2014 winners who have demonstrated the Anglo American values and a strong commitment to the apprenticeship program,” Mr Palmer said.
“We are delighted to host these awards to recognise the apprentices who are excelling in their fields and reward their hard work and overall contribution.
“Our apprenticeship program promises great opportunities for participants who will go on to exciting careers in mechanical and electrical trades.”
Winners received a certificate and a gift voucher to spend on tools.
