Anglo American has proudly confirmed its commitment to supporting local equestrian sports in the Upper Hunter by sponsoring the Scone Equestrian Vaulting Team and the 5th annual Equestrian Vaulting competition held in Scone earlier this month.
The competition was held at the Scone Equestrian Centre as part of the Upper Hunter Horse Festival and attracted competitors from across Australia.
Scone Equestrian Vaulting Team President Robyn Boyle said the Upper Hunter Horse Festival Equestrian Vaulting competition was an outstanding success and the team was very pleased to have the support of Anglo American as a major sponsor.
“The growth and ongoing support and sponsorship of equestrian vaulting in the Upper Hunter will give more local children and young people the opportunity to participate in this unique equestrian discipline,” Ms Boyle said.
“Vaulting is an integrated sport which caters for athletes with disabilities at both club and national levels.”
Anglo American Stakeholder Engagement Manager Matt Frodsham said the sponsorship would also help the club purchase equipment, educate officials and raise the profile of the sport throughout the region.
“Drayton mine has a long-standing history of supporting local sporting teams in the Upper Hunter and equestrian vaulting is a very important and popular sport in our region,” Mr Frodsham said.
“We are very proud to be supporting the Scone Equestrian Vaulting team, which relies on fundraising and donations to help achieve its goals, including representing the region at both national and international levels.
“We are also very pleased to have been able to help the team ensure the weekend long vaulting event at Scone was a great success.”
