Anglo American brings the Brisbane Broncos to Central Queensland

27 March, 2013

Leading global mining company Anglo American has hosted members of the Brisbane Broncos on a two-day visit to Rockhampton and Gladstone as part of the Regional Partnership Program that was formed between the two organisations in 2011.

Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the visit to Central Queensland provided local school students with the opportunity to discover more about the exciting career paths available with Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal business and also meet some of their footballing heroes.

“With five out of our six Australian coal mines located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland as well as our Grosvenor underground longwall mine under construction in Moranbah, Anglo American has the most attractive project pipeline in the mining industry,” Jackie said.

“Similar to the Brisbane Broncos, Anglo American is focused on providing our employees with not just a job but rather a genuine career where they continue to learn and are challenged to reach their full potential.

“Anglo American is thrilled to once again partner with the Brisbane Broncos and share with the people of regional Queensland and New South Wales the chance to discover more about working with Anglo American, particularly with our exciting growth opportunities at our future Grosvenor mine,” Jackie said.

As part of their visit to Rockhampton and Gladstone, principal players Jharal Yow Yeh and Dale Copley joined with Broncos old boy and NRL legend Michael Hancock, as well as Game Development Manager Paul Dyer to conduct coaching clinics and motivational sessions for more than 800 students from schools including Rockhampton State High School, Gracemere State School, Cathedral College, Gladstone State High School and Toolooa State High School.

Paul Dyer said the Broncos were delighted to maintain their partnership with Anglo American which enabled them to visit the club’s many loyal fans.

“Our partnership with Anglo American is very important to the Brisbane Broncos as it provides us with the opportunity to travel to regional towns, meet our many loyal fans and share with them some of our experiences and coaching skills,” he said.
