High school students from across the Sunshine Coast region will have plenty to play for when they do battle in today’s Anglo American Brisbane Broncos Sunshine Coast Challenge at Maroochydore Rugby League Club.

Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said with Morayfield, Kawana and Caloundra State High Schools all fielding teams in the challenge, the competition was expected to be genuine, especially with Brisbane Broncos star Jharal Yow Yeh and members of the Game Development team on hand to watch the rugby league talent on display.

“As event sponsor Anglo American is delighted to join with the Brisbane Broncos and provide Queensland’s regional areas such as the Sunshine Coast with the opportunity to meet and learn from members of the much admired Broncos,” Jackie said.

“As a prelude to the Sunshine Coast Challenge, the Brisbane Broncos Development team will conduct a skills clinic with students from Maroochydore State Primary School, highlighting the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle and giving the children the opportunity to see the Broncos in action.

“During our Sunshine Coast tour we will also highlight Anglo American’s strong diversity focus by encouraging women to consider a future career in the resources industry,” she said.

Brisbane Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer said the Broncos were thrilled to continue to partner with Anglo American and visit the club’s many fans throughout Queensland.

“With Brisbane Broncos principal players Matt Gillett, Jack Read and Josh Maguire all starting their football careers on the Sunshine Coast, the region has developed itself as one of the State’s top rugby league breeding grounds and we look forward to seeing the school teams in action later today,” Paul said.

“The Brisbane Broncos is delighted to once again work with Anglo American as this partnership enables us to travel around regional Queensland, meet our many fans and share some of our skills with them,” he said.
