Leading global mining company Anglo American has selected North Queensland’s rugby league heartland of Townsville to launch its Brisbane Broncos Regional Partnership Program for 2013 by taking part in the James Cook University (JCU) Careers Fair.
Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the visit to Townsville provided university students in North Queensland with the opportunity to discover more about the exciting career paths available with Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal business and also meet some of their footballing heroes.
“With five out of our six Australian coal mines located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland as well as our Grosvenor underground longwall mine under construction in Moranbah, Anglo American has the most attractive project pipeline in the mining industry” Jackie said.
“Similar to the Brisbane Broncos, Anglo American is focused on providing our employees with not just a job but a genuine career where they continue to learn and are challenged to reach their full potential.
“Anglo American is thrilled to once again partner with the Brisbane Broncos and share with the people of regional Queensland and New South Wales the chance to discover more about working with Anglo American, particularly with our exciting growth opportunities at our future Grosvenor mine,” Jackie said.
Special guests at the Anglo American booth at the JCU Careers Fair included principal player and current University of Queensland Pharmacy student Dale Copley, as well as Broncos old boys and NRL legends Michael Hancock, Michael De Vere and Game Development Manager Paul Dyer.
Paul Dyer said the Broncos were delighted to continue their partnership with Anglo American which enabled them to visit the club’s many fans throughout regional Queensland.
“Our partnership with Anglo American is very important to the Brisbane Broncos, it provides us with the opportunity to travel to many regional towns, meet our loyal supporters and share with them some of our life experiences and coaching skills,” he said.
