Anglo American supports Women in League to promote Women in Mining

22 June, 2012

Last week Anglo American helped raise awareness about diversity and women working in non-traditional roles through its sponsorship with the Brisbane Broncos by getting behind the NRL’s Women in League Round “Pink” Round while raising funds for Think Pink Think Choices, the fundraising arm of The Kim Walters Choices Program.

The Kim Walters Choices program is a unique community service offering information, friendship and support for women, men and their families who have beenaffected by a breast or gynaecological cancer diagnosis, and the Women in League round shifts focus from the players to the many women who work for the NRL as well as the mothers, sisters, wives and partners who support the players throughout their rugby league careers.

More than 80 Anglo American employees and their families from Dawson, Callide, Moranbah North and Drayton mines and Brisbane proudly donned pink Anglo American and Brisbane Broncos branded merchandise and set up in rows 18 to 21 at Suncorp Stadium’s Southern Stand to support women and promote Anglo American.

The impressive Anglo American diversity army was announced over the stadium’s loudspeakers as one of the Broncos proud sponsors, and the sea of pink beanies was also broadcast during the game on television.
