More than 600 Central Highlands primary and secondary school students were treated to aspecial visit by members of the Brisbane Broncos this week as part of the Anglo AmericanRegional Partnership Program.
Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the two day tour to theregion included the staging of the Central Highlands Challenge in Clermont where high schoolstudents from nine local schools showed off their rugby league and netball skills.
“Anglo American is delighted to join with the Brisbane Broncos and provide the regional areasof Queensland with the opportunity to meet and learn from members of the much respectedBroncos.
“As event sponsor Anglo American is proud to share with the Central Highlands our excitinggrowth opportunities, in particular our nearby Grosvenor project, and help locals identifypotential career opportunities within our company,” Jackie said.
“During our tour of the Central Highlands we also took the time to highlight Anglo American’sstrong diversity focus by encouraging women to consider a future career in the resourcesindustry,” she said.
As a prelude to the Central Highlands Challenge, the Broncos Development team spent a dayin Emerald conducting coaching clinics with students from St Patrick’s, Denison State Schooland Emerald State School, followed by a coaching development session in the evening for localjunior rugby league coaches.
The South Burnett region of Queensland also shared in a visit this week by the BrisbaneBroncos when players Josh McGuire and Scott Anderson travelled to Nanango for the semifinalsof the Anglo American Brisbane Broncos Wide Bay Challenge, with high school studentsfrom Murgon, Nanango, Gympie, Kingaroy and Gayndah competing.
Brisbane Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer said the Broncos were thrilled topartner with Anglo American and visit the club’s many fans throughout Queensland.
