Anglo American partners with Brisbane Broncos in Mackay and Moranbah

19 October, 2012

While the National Rugby League (NRL) season may be over for another year that hasn’t stopped members of the Brisbane Broncos from travelling to Mackay and Moranbah this week to work with budding footballers and the wider community as part of the Anglo American Regional Partnership Program.

Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the three day tour to the Central Queensland region commences on Friday 19 October in Mackay with Brisbane Broncos principal players Ben Hannant and Matt Gillett along with former star player Michael De Vere visiting Mackay State High School.

“Anglo American is delighted to join with the Brisbane Broncos and provide Queensland’s regional areas such as Mackay and Moranbah with the opportunity to meet and learn from members of the much respected Brisbane Broncos,” said Jackie.

As part of their visit to Mackay and Moranbah the Brisbane Broncos star players and Development team will conduct specialised coaching clinics for eager young footballers.

“With a proud history in Moranbah, Anglo American is excited to arrange for the local community a visit by current NRL stars Ben Hannant and Matt Gillett, as well as members of the Brisbane Broncos Development team.

“It will be a busy weekend for the Brisbane Broncos in Moranbah, with a skills clinic taking place for all interested junior players on Saturday commencing at 10am at Moranbah’s Darryl Bourke Oval.

“We anticipate hundreds of keen footballers and supporters to attend this skills clinic where they will have opportunity to meet in person some of their footballing heroes and secure an autograph,” said Jackie.

Later that evening the Brisbane Broncos stars will be special guests at Moranbah’s inaugural Bowen Basin Gala Charity Ball where they will assist with the live auction of the football club’s donation of a playing jersey signed by all current principal players, as well as superstar Darren Lockyer. Proceeds from this charity event will go to CQ Rescue and the Mater Foundation.

Brisbane Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer said the Broncos were thrilled to partner with Anglo American and visit the club’s many fans throughout Queensland.

“The Brisbane Broncos value our partnership with Anglo American as it enables us to travel around regional Queensland, meet our many fans and share with them some of our skills,” he said.
