As part of the Anglo American Regional Partnership Program, more than 600 Bundaberg secondary school students will be treated to a special visit by four members of the Brisbane Broncos this week, including international stars Michael De Vere and Michael Hancock.
Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the two day tour to the Wide Bay region which starts on Wednesday 15 August, includes the staging of the Anglo American Broncos Bundaberg Challenge where secondary school students from seven local schools will have the opportunity to compete for the inter-school cup.
“Anglo American is delighted to join with the Brisbane Broncos and provide Queensland’s regional areas such as Wide Bay with the opportunity to meet and learn from members of the much respected Brisbane Broncos.
“Our Anglo American Brisbane Broncos Challenge provides the stage for students from Shalom College, St Luke’s and Kepnock, Bundaberg, Bundaberg North, Rosedale and Gin Gin State High Schools to show off their rugby league skills to members of the Brisbane Broncos Development team,” Jackie said.
As part of their visit to Bundaberg the Brisbane Broncos Development team will spend a day conducting coaching clinics with students from Shalom College and North Bundaberg State High School.
“As event sponsor Anglo American is also proud to share with Bundaberg students the exciting career opportunities available in the mining industry and in particular Anglo American,” Jackie said.
Brisbane Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer said the Broncos were thrilled to partner with Anglo American and visit the club’s many fans throughout Queensland.
