Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal employees have dug deep into their pockets and helped raise $3325 for The Kim Walters Choices Program through the sale of raffle tickets and pink co-branded Anglo American and Brisbane Broncos merchandise.
Anglo American’s Corporate Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the raffle was an extension of the Company’s involvement in this year’s Women in League round held in June which celebrated the vital role mothers, sisters, wives and partners play in the lives of rugby league players.
“Following the Women in League round, we conducted a companywide raffle for the chance to win limited edition Broncos Jerseys which were signed by the entire 2012 playing team” she said. “Like many of our footballing heroes who are supported by the important women in their lives, The Kim Walters Choices Program provides essential support in the form of ancillary services for women, men and their families who have been affected by breast or gynaecological cancer.
‘Thanks to the generosity of Anglo American workforces at our mine sites and Brisbane, we raised $3325 from raffle ticket sales and game day tickets” Jackie said.
Director of Fundraising for UnitingCare Health, Jo Ahern said Anglo American’s donation would be used to fund the support services provided free to cancer patients and their families.
“On behalf of The Kim Walters Choices Program we are delighted to receive the donation from Anglo American and appreciate all the efforts of the many employees who donated money in support of our Program.
“Thanks to the support of organisations like Anglo American, we are able to continue to provide much needed support to individuals and families battling cancer,” said Ms Ahern.
