Anglo American and Brisbane Broncos visit Gladstone for the Port Curtis Finals

This week Anglo American joined the Brisbane Broncos on a trip to Gladstone to attend theAnglo American Port Curtis Finals and cheer on local high school rugby league enthusiastsfrom five different schools as they battled it out for the Port Curtis Cup.

The Brisbane Broncos Game Development Team and former Broncos and State of Originplayer, Michael DeVere, greeted students from Gladstone State High School, Chanel College,Toolooa State High School, Biloela State High School and Tannum Sands State High Schoolas they gathered at Marley Brown Oval to play the rugby league football final for the region.As an event sponsor, the Anglo American brand was on display at the grounds and competitorswere also treated to Anglo American and Broncos merchandise such as footballs and caps.Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble, said the trip to Gladstoneprovided a way for Anglo American to promote their company and future employment with theirMoranbah growth projects.

“Our existing mines have a strong connection with Gladstone as Gladstone Port is the gatewaythrough which we transport coal from our metallurgical coal mines out to our customers,” Jackiesaid. “It’s wonderful to be back in Gladstone through our regional partnership with the BrisbaneBroncos, as we share Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal growth story with the localcommunity. “By meeting with local high school students, we are also able to put our diversity focus intoaction by encouraging young women to consider the resources industry for their futurecareers,” she said.

Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer, said the Broncos were thrilled to partnerwith Anglo American and visit the fans in Gladstone.

“Our partnership with Anglo American means we have more opportunities to visit RegionalQueensland and it was great to see the local skills on show at the Port Curtis Cup,” he said.
