Anglo American and Brisbane Broncos visit Warwick
This week Anglo American joined the Brisbane Broncos on a trip to Warwick, west of Brisbane, to attend Wednesday’s Southern Downs Challenge, a competition where local high school students from eight schools in the region put their rugby league and netball skills to the test.
More than 400 students from Goondiwindi, Allora, Warwick, Killarney, Inglewood, Texas, Stanthorpe and Clifton High Schools participated in the competition held at Collegians Junior League Club and Barnes Park, with the Warwick State High boys winning the rugby league challenge and the Assumption College Warwick girls victorious in the netball competition.
As an event sponsor, the Anglo American brand was on display at the game and competitors were also treated to Anglo American and Broncos merchandise such as footballs and caps.
Anglo American Branding and Events Coordinator, Jackie Noble said the trip to Warwick provided a way for Anglo American to promote their company and future employment on their Moranbah growth projects.
“Without our regional partnership with the Brisbane Broncos, we wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to personally speak to people from this area, so it’s wonderful to be able to share Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal growth story with the Warwick community,” Jackie said.
“We were also able to put our diversity focus into action by encouraging young women to consider the resources industry for their future careers,” she said.
Broncos Game Development Manager, Paul Dyer, said the Broncos were thrilled to partner with Anglo American and visit the fans in Warwick.
“Our partnership with Anglo American means we have more opportunities to visit Regional Queensland and it was great to see the local skills on show at the Southern Downs Challenge,” he said.
