Representatives from leading mining company Anglo American joined the Brisbane Broncos game development team and principal players Josh Maguire and Dale Copley in Toowoomba yesterday where they met with around 500 job seekers and school leavers at the Former Origin Greats Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo.
Anglo American’s Recruitment Superintendent Shandell Riley said the company was excited to join with its Regional Partner, the Brisbane Broncos and take part in the Toowoomba employment and careers expo to discuss future career opportunities with attendees.
“With Brisbane Broncos players Josh Maguire and Dale Copley at our expo stand, our recruitment team had a busy day fielding questions from potential employees interested in joining the resources industry,” Ms Riley said.
“The Anglo American recruitment team spent much of their time at the Expo talking with and guiding attendees on tools and techniques they should use when applying for a job,” she said.
Along with helping the job seekers improve their skills when applying for a job, Anglo American’s recruitment team also coached them through potential responses to tough interview questions.
“Many people can find looking for a job an overwhelming experience and the interview stage can be especially challenging for some people. The Anglo American recruitment team enjoyed working with the Expo attendees on improving their interview skills,” Ms Riley said.
Anglo American’s regional partnership with the Brisbane Broncos enables the company to raise its profile throughout regional Queensland, while also providing locals with the opportunity to meet their football heroes in person.
